Tim Thorpe Consulting is operated by its Director Tim Thorpe. Tim has had a mixed working background, initially in the forestry sector, then more recently in digital media.
Tim’s career in digital media began in 2000 after he joined the Ministry of Economic Development where he worked in sector development. One of the sectors for which he was responsible included the screen industry building on the impetus of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
In 2008, Tim established Tim Thorpe Consulting Ltd. Since that time Tim has contributed to a range of projects for clients drawing on his research & analysis, policy and strategic planning backgrounds but increasingly moving into executive production. Projects that Tim has worked on cover film, television, video games, music and other digital media sectors.
In 2014, utilising his increasing experience in digital media, Tim established AugSim Limited to develop augmented reality simulators. He has also reached a partnership arrangement with Libertine Pictures, Grant Thornton, and Matt Emery Legal to provide advisory services to productions wishing to access the NZ Screen Production Grant.
In his spare time, Tim is a member of a band Free & Frank in which he plays both ukulele and penny whistle, although piano is his main instrument. Table tennis keeps him fit. He helps run the Game Developers of Wellington meetups.
